Custom Aerial Images takes great pleasure in capturing, producing, and, especially, sharing aerial photography, images taken from a unique perspective, from thousands of feet in the air-- from the heavens themselves. We would be remiss to not also take this oportunity to share the greatest photo we have ever come across: the "photo" of God.
Many people from ancient times have wondered what God looks like. Some ancients would take clay or another moldable material and try to craft their vision of how their god would appear. Some, Michelangelo, for example, used the medium of paint to represent God. The image of a grey bearded, powerful, yet serene "God" on the the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome, reaching out to man with extended arm, depicted one artist's rendition of the divine creator.
But better than a sculpture or a painting, would be a photograph... a photograph of God. Sculptures and paintings understandably represent mere artist's perceptions or imaginations regarding their subjects. A photograph, as we understand in our modern, scientific age, more accurately mirrors a subject than other forms of representation. That's why we believe the "photograph" serves as a great metaphor for the person of Jesus. Jesus is the "photo of God".
In the book of Colossians, the apostle Paul states in reference to Jesus, "He is the image of the invisible God"(Col.1:15). The author of Hebrews writes that Jesus is "...the radiance of His(God's) glory and the exact representation of His (God's) nature..."(Heb.1:3).
Jesus himself, in response to his disciple Philip's request, "Show us the Father..." replies, "Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how do you say, 'Show us the Father'?"(John 14:8,9).
Okay, at this point our metephor of a "photograph", though appealing to this aerial photographer, starts to break down. Although Jesus mirrors exactly who God is, we are beginning to consider that Jesus is much more than a photograph. Perhaps we can picture a three dimensional photograph, or a clone of God. But Jesus is even more than appearances or the visual can discern. He is exactly like God in His attitude, in His Words, in His actions, in the way He treats people, in the way He goes about His every day business. He is so much like God that Jesus can say "if you've seen me; you've seen the Father (God)."
So, there you have it! We all have access to a photo of God. God is invisible. He's a spirit. Yet you and I can open up our bibles at any time, peruse through its pages, learn more about Jesus, and we'll then know exactly what God is like. As we see Jesus, we'll be viewing "the image of the invisible God," "the radiance of His glory," "the exact representation of His nature." We'll be seeing, in other words, a "photo of God!"
At Custom Aerial Images, though we'd love to fly your photo mission and help you capture images of your site, even more than that, we'd like to make ourselves available to help you get a clearer picture of who God is and what He can do for you. Please don't hesitate to contact us if we can ever answer any questions, pray, or be of service in any other way. Ask for Erick or Darla, my wife.
